Blepharoplasty

BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYELID SURGERY)

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the eyelids by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, and reinforcing surrounding muscles and tendons. These procedures typically take less than two hours and can be performed under light sedation with local anesthesia. Recovery involves minimal pain, allowing a quick return to indoor activities, though bruising and swelling generally last about 12 days.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Upper blepharoplasty addresses sagging skin that can droop onto the upper lid, often caused by the descent of the brow. During the procedure, excess skin is excised and the outer eyelids can be elevated through inconspicuous incisions. The position of the eyebrow is a critical aesthetic factor; a youthful appearance is characterized by a feminine brow that sits above the orbital rim with a distinct arch above the outer rim. Brow lift can be added to enhance the upper eyelid surgery results.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower eyelid bags, often exacerbated by allergies or sinusitis, can be treated using small incisions inside the eyelids to “melt” away fat bulges. Extra skin can be removed surgically with minimal scar under the eyelashes. To achieve a smooth, long-lasting transition between the eyelids and cheeks, fat harvested from the stomach or waist can be injected into the grooves between the lower lid bags and the nose.

 Non-Surgical Rejuvenation Options

Various non-invasive treatments are available to push back the signs of aging. PRP/PRF injections with patient’s own blood is recommended to maintain youthful appearance of the lower eyelids. Fillers like Restylane provide immediate, cost-effective reduction of lower bulges, while specialized medications can be used across several sessions to diminish fat pockets. Fine lines and dark circles often respond well to topical regimens containing retinoic acid, Vitamins C and E, or hydroquinone-based bleaching creams. For more intense rejuvenation, TCA or phenol peels and laser treatments offer long-lasting skin lightening and smoothing with minimal office downtime.
